Leslie Thrower (20 Dec 1942 - 8 Jun 2017)

In loving memory of Leslie Thrower who sadly passed away on 8th June 2017
Leslie worked as a miner for 30 years until it closed and then worked at Icon polymer rubber works factory in retford until he retired.
After retirement Leslie always kept himself busy and loved spending his days tending to his garden and his canary aviary for which he was affectionately known as the birdman.
Leslie had always been a fighter he had overcome 2 bouts of cancer through which he carried on as normal.
Towards his end he was taken to hospital after a sudden onset of blindness which we had no idea as to what caused it. It was then at the hospital after a brain scan we was told he had brain cancer as a result of the previous lymphoma cancer we thought he had overcome. We were told the tumours were too great to operate on but we was still hopefully for other treatments until on Saturday 3rd June he had a massive seizure which resulted in a brain bleed which resulted in his last few days being spent unconscious in hospital.
We were thankful for the days myself and my mum got to spend with him as we shared some fond memories and we were aware he could hear us and was aware we were with him. We was able to say our goodbyes and he passed peacefully whilst we were holding his hands.
He will be greatly missed by many.
