In loving memory of David Coupland who sadly passed away on 13th June 2017 at home.
Much loved husband of Maureen and father of Julie, Lisa, Jacqueline and the late Susan.
Grandfather of Shelley, Melanie, Femi, David, Natalie, Christopher, Christian and Louis.
Great Grandfather of George, Theo, Harrison and Jenson.

Special thanks to St Barnabas Hospice, Lincoln for the support, help and very special health care he received during his illness.

Flowers are to be sent to Newark Co-operative Funeral Services and those attending the funeral may also bring a single flower should they wish to do so, to be placed with David at his commital.

A just giving page has been created in David's name for those that would like to make a donation to St Barnabas Hospice. David and his family would be really proud and touched by this and it would mean that the very special care the hospice provides continues to be available to others.

David, I will write this message as an open discussion.

Having known you for many years circumstances meant our time together was limited. I know little about football or cycling your passions but you did share your knowledge. There were other more serious moments of intervention which have stayed with me.

You did not often 'Give advice' in the purest sense but I recall three specific conversations and your words remain with me. For me they were an insight into the man. You spoke, putting others first, and taking a difficult position to ensure I was given support in challenging times.

These were part of a conversation I wanted to have with you but through circumstances I could finalise. In order to put closure to those conversations I will say thank you for your advice,
thank you for putting others first and
thank you for touching my world in such a positive way.

Be at peace.

A very sad day for everybody that knew Coup. He became a very special friend to me, working with him for over thirty years in the 'big house'. His very unorthodox outlook on life, his unusual style of humour and the wisdom he demonstrated with his nursing skills. Jack.
