Dear Eddie I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Bill was a lovely man and it was a pleasure to meet both of you. Thinking of you at this very difficult time. Love Suzanne x
William "Bill" Robertson (9 Feb 1948 - 6 Jun 2017)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of William "Bill" Robertson who sadly passed away on 6th June 2017.
We had been together for just over 39 years, I will miss Bill dearly. Bill had been quite ill with C.O.P.D (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) which got worse and he simply passed away peacefully in his sleep at the City Hospital Nottingham at 9:45 pm. I was with Bill from early lunch time until just passed 6:30 pm, he had a good afternoon and was in no pain and his breathing was normal, I actually thought he was getting better. I remember thinking, I'll be taking you home tomorrow but sadly it wasn't to be.
Bill had a good life, he worked all over the world, Oman, Zambia, South Africa, Libya, Yemen, Egypt and Mexico. I think he liked Mexico the most, he had started to take helicopter flying lessons, he enjoyed that but then he was moved back to the UK, he wasn't best pleased. Bill then decided he wanted to be home with me and changed jobs. Bill worked at Boots where he was given the task of union Rep for USDAW, he had the nickname of (Rumpole) always with employment law books under his arm.
Bill liked his gin and tonic and would have a few before dinner every evening. His favourite meal was Chilli Con Carne with fresh raw chillies on top and nacho's with hot salsa.
I am still trying to get used to the fact that he's not here. I find myself setting a place for him at dinner time. I came home from the shop the other day and called to him upstairs asking if he was OK. Of cause there was no answer but time will heal and I think to myself, do you know what Bill, I'm going to be just fine.
Bill was a very handsome and kind man and I feel I have been blessed for sharing such a large part of our lives together.
For those that will be attending Bills' funeral service. Please NOTE that flowers are from family and Bills' wishes are that he would want donations to the Nottingham University Hospitals Charity, C.O.P.D/Respiratory Services. This is a small charity based in Keyworth. Donations maybe sent to Lymns, who will pass this onto the charity, or you can use the charity box at the service.
Writing an Obituary for someone you have shared your life with is heartbreaking, I have shed so many tears, I hope I still have some left for saying goodbye at his service but because I am missing him so much I think there will be lots more to come.
Bill leaves 2 sisters, Bell and Maggie plus one brother Tom.
Rest in peace my dear sweet Bill. Your life long partner but above all friend. Eddie XXXXXX
