The long bike rides, the mad fishing exploits, including sunny days and sitting in continuous rain then riding home soaked and not minding a bit, the night fishing with occasional bouts of amateur tree surgery, the pyrotechnics “experiments” that caused the neighbours such consternation, our care-free youth spent in Canterbury, mainly on Barton Estate Mount’s Farm and Westbere Lakes. My parents and I had just moved (1960) from London. What a shock that move was , I think Nick and Paul were the first people I got to know and I will never forget my gratitude them for their friendship. Nick – I will never forget you, R.I.P old chum.

So many memories of a misspent youth in Canterbury. Of growing up, fishing, pubs, girlfriends and so much more. Sitting at the table at number 5 eating marmite toast on a Sunday morning. Whitstable, Seasalter beach, Dover piers and Fordwich lakes. Life is for living and you always did that. I am now in France but I will be raising a glass and sàying "RIP Belsey" Horse.
