In loving memory of Amanda Swandale who sadly passed away on 11th May 2017

On Thursday 11th May Amanda sadly passed away after a three year illness, which she fought bravely and courageously.

Amanda has left a huge hole in our family, she was the most kind, loving, generous, happy, beautiful soul anyone could meet or be blessed with having in their world.

We are all heartbroken.

We would like to invite you to her celebration of life, the details are as follows, please could you respect the family at this sad time and follow the details accordingly.

If you are unsure of any of the details, please speak with Anita (Amanda’s Brother Michaels wife) who is organising this celebration as per Amanda’s wishes and on behalf of Amanda’s husband Tim, her children, grandchildren, nieces and her two brothers.

We would respectfully ask for Family flowers only See Below

Dress Code is No Black, bright colours only please. (Amanda wish)

We would welcome Donations to The Beresford Suite at the QEQM Hospital, which was the family room we were allowed to use day and night, during Amanda’s last two weeks in hospital, so we would like to give to the charitable trust who run this so other families can benefit from this room.

You can donate by simply sending a cheque made payable to 'East Kent Hospitals Charity' and post it to: Charitable Funds Manager, East Kent Hospitals Charity, 2nd Floor, Trust Offices, Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Ethelbert Road, Canterbury, Kent. CT1 3NG. Please put in Memory of Amanda Swandale and the money is to go towards the Beresford Family Suite at QEQM

My condolences to her family and friends. I knew Mandy from Folkestone and used to baby-sit Dani-Leigh (I think she may be called Daisy now) on a regular basis when Mandy worked in the pet shop in the Folkestone Shopping Arcade. I met her father once and her brother twice I think. We lost contact when I moved to Holland but she's not someone you forget easily. When she got msrried I couldn't remember her new surname which doesn't help when you google someone.

Good times with few resources back then (we were all on the dole) and a happy-go-lucky character if ever there was one.

Fly high and bright Mandy. Gone but not forgotten!

Beautiful best friend. You made me laugh so much from age 11-16yrs plus we got into quite a bit of trouble too but we didn't care. Then you disappeared and I missed you, tried to find you but couldn't. Then last September you walked back into my life as my patient at pilgrims hospice Ashford and recognised me as your best friend from school. I cried so hard that night after you'd said to me "Jo, it's me, Mandy Macaloran".
I would rather never seen you again than seen you as my patient but I was glad I could try and make your last few months easier and so glad to have you in my life again.
I am blessed to have known you and will love you for ever.

Time doesn't heal, it accommodates.

Your best friend
Jo xxxx

  • Thank you for that Jo-anne. We at Cheriton Pentecostal Church have, are and are going to miss her terribly; at all times, even in pain she sang her heart out with the Praise Group. Thank God we have the assurance that we will meet her again. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, her dear relations and friends.

I met you 3 times before we become friends. The 1st you walked passed me when I was with my sister. I turned to her and said one day me and her will be friends, the 2nd time I found a young boy (Josh) being bullied by a group of kids. I walked him home and was welcomed in for a drink before I left. The 3rd you moved into my street and we became good friends. You were beautiful in ways I can't even begin to explain. I miss you terribly. I wish I could have seen you move in the end but my illness got in the way of that. You were everyone's angel, always helped others and I know you will continue to do so. You have earned your wings. RIP
I stIll have all your letters and pictures you wrote and drew for my. I will love and keep them forever. Xx
