Fr John Jerome Abbott (2 Mar 1944 - 18 Apr 2017)

I met John for the first time when he came into the classical music section of the Virgin Megastore that I ran. We instantly hit it off, as he was pleased to be able to 'talk to someone who knows what he's talking about'! We talked about a lot of things over the years, he, obviously, being of faith, and I not, but it always lead back to music, especially Bruckner. I don't think it can be overstated, the effect Anton Bruckner had on John, and it's always to John that my mind turns whenever I listen to it, which is an awful lot. I will miss John very, very much.

I first met with Father John when we were both Anglicans(he converting to Catholicism many years before myself) I remember him well for being an excellent musician and organist. My last meeting with him was at the Mass to celebrate his twenty five years in the Catholic Priesthood.
