Doll was born on 3rd August 1928 and was the eldest of 7 children, 2 girls and 5 boys. She grew up in Bush Street in Chatham and was evacuated to Risca in Wales during the war where she finished her schooling and stayed on to work there for a while as well before returning to Chatham. Growing up, she enjoyed the cinema and dances, where she met Fred. They courted and married at 27. She continued to enjoy dances, movies and the camping trips they went on in Fred's Ford Thames van. Paul, her first born arrived a few years later, followed by Kerry and lastly, Peter. She was a devoted mother and wife and forever put others before herself, her only wish to make sure her family were well and happy. Her 'me' time was in soaps (Crossroads, Corrie and Emerdale), and her arts and crafts (macrame, bead and cane work), which she also taught for a number of years. She also loved musicals and ice skating, her favourite being Phantom of the Opera which she saw at least 6 times and Torvill and Dean. She was an active member of 2 social clubs, The Smallholders Club and Rainara and enjoyed many activites and holidays with them. With her children grown, she became a devoted Grandmother and then Great Grandmother and showered the granchildren with the same love she gave to her children. She has been and will remain our adored and loving mother.
