We wish we could be there but since we are a continent away,we send our deepest condolences, love and prayers. Shirley was a blessing to have met.She was the first and best friend I met while living in England from America. She was a outgoing, bubbly, fun, loving, giving and a wonderful woman of faith . I instantly felt a friendship with her not only because of us both being Christians but also her amazing spirit she radiated and gave to me and everyone. She was special and one of a kind ! She made an impact on this world and will be deeply missed but leaves an amazing legacy of love !!

I have never met anyone like Shirley before and probably never will, so full of fun and mischief, love and compassion for her 'fellow' man. No matter how busy she was she seemed somehow to find time for everyone. She also was a great 'wordsmith', beautiful verses, short stories and some very funny one. Also my co-songwriter, I was her 'musicman', 'her wizard', 'alpha wolf', she was my 'wood nymph', 'tinkerbell' She saved me i'm so sorry I could't save her

Sending deepest sympathy to all of Shirley's family at this incredibly sad time.

She will always have a special place in my memories so I hope you don't mind me sharing a few with you.

Shirley was a mum to me on so many occasions, she always knew just what to say and do to build me back up again when life had pulled me down. I credit my sense of humour/quick wit and my 'obsession' with anything star shaped to Shirley (a nod to my 'twinkle' nickname I think!). I will remember fondly our treasure finding trips to the tip and charity shops (just one more jug!), my garage secondment (snail squashing in slippers), paulerspury players, guide's childcare badge with joey, dinner round the big table (somehow there was always enough food - no matter how many of us turned up), my awful perm (my hair really took to those curlers didn't it?!), walking the dogs across the wreck, daisy the cat, and the laughter and tears we shared on a number of occasions. A very special lady indeed.

Thinking of you all every day, love Melly xxx
