Damiano Milioto was the son of Gerlanda Taverna and Angelo Milioto and was born in S'Angelo Muxaro in Sicily.
He was the eldest of two, his sister still survining in Sicily.
Due to his parents ill health he was required to seak employment abroad and was offered a contract to work in Beford, England with London Brickwork's and came over in 1953 with a few relatives.
In 1956 he went back to Sicily for the 1st time since leaving to visit his parents and fell in love, at first sight with his wife to be Francesca Sicurello, marrying in December.
He returned to England alone and his wife followed a few months later, living in a bed sit for a few years.
Their first daughter Gerland was born in September 1958 which spurred Damiano to save up and purchase his own house in 1966.
In 1967 their second daughter Giuseppina was born and this spurred Damiano to move employment and started working for Texas Instruments. His wife also found employment there working hard doing alternative shifts to look afther the children. They were then able to sell their home and purchase a larger property where their son Angelo was born in 1971. Times were tough and some of Damiano's relatives moved to London and he decided to do the same, selling his house in Bedford, he bought his first Fish & Chip Shop in Lewisham in 1972 which helped him beocme the owner of multiple properties.
He supported his children and grandchildren any way he could whether they were single or married and was known to be a strong headed business man.
Years later, after all his children were married, he retired and shortly after suffered a stroke at the age of 70. This was followed by his wife having a stroke 7 months later and Damiano was adamant to be his wife's carer. Although Damiano's health became stable his wife's health deteriorated and he became a widower in June 2010 at the age of 76.
After the loss of his wife, Damiano's relied on his children and grandchildren for company and support, then his own health started to deteriorate although he was a fighter and after several operations and multiple high risk health conditions he lost his fight on the 23rd February 2017 leaving behind his 3 children, son in law, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grand children.
We all miss him so much and find hard to believe that he is no longer with us. We hope that he will be proud of the send off we are planning for him as he deserved the best.
