In loving memory of Martyn Charles Hirons who sadly passed away on 7th February 2017, aged 77 years.

Dawn Southerton donated in memory of Martyn

Martyn was more than a friend to our family. His sense of humor, kindness, and compassion will never be forgotten. There will always be a special place in our hearts for Martyn. There is no one else like him. We always saw our father through his eyes and we find comfort in knowing that he is with him now. Martyn will be forever missed.

Martyn was a wonderful man and I (along Dana & Ellen) think of it as an honor to have met him. He was great to be around when they came to the States. We enjoyed his stories (the reason for dance lessons) and conversations at the pool or pub. Anyone who met him came away with a smile on their face. I wished I could have known him longer than I did - but am truly grateful I did get to call him a friend.

Martyn possessed all the qualities in a man that would make this world a better place if only there more like him in it. A man to be admired and looked up to, and I know if he heard that from me he would be touched, definitely a bit embarrssed, but his ever depreciating and humble self as usual. His positive outlook and joy & love of life shone through and crept into everyone's heart. It is very, very clear for anyone to see Martyn, because every single one of us saw and experienced the same things and saw the same qualities in him. A rare breed for sure. He touched our lives, and is a fine example to us all of what we should strive to be. And, yes, every single one of us will remember him with a smile, but be more than sad he is no longer here. My heart truly goes out to his darling wife, daughter & son and their families, theirs is the greatest loss of all. I do so wish I got see you just one more time though Martyn. My thoughts are with your lovely family. Words never seem to be enough.

When the word Hirons is spoke in our house, it's always accompanied with a huge smile and fond, fun and entertaining stories. Our family first met Martyn's son Pete, daughter-in-law April and granddaughter Keira. We feel in love with their spunky spirit and fun personalities. When we first met Martyn it became instantly clear where this family's zest and fun for life came from! Every visit was filled with fun and amazing conversations! Beyond all that...we saw an amazing talented man, who had amazing work ethic! He graciously helped with home projects on his VACATIONS, with wanting nothing in return! Martyn will be greatly missed by the Griffith family and all our love is sent to the entire Hiron family!

Dear Hirons Family, It is with extreme sadness to acknowledge Martyn's passing however any thought of him produces a smile and inner joy as a result of knowing him. Martyn's wit, honesty, joy of conversation and love he shared are precious memories for our family. What a gentleman! We have been blessed to call him our friend and in the words of my children, 'the coolest man we've ever met.' Thank you for sharing him with us! With love and thankfulness, The Biggerstaffs

Martyn Hirons, the epitome of a true gentleman. My heartfelt condolences go out to the entire family. One would have to be blind not so see the pride and love in his eyes when he looked at (or even spoke of) his family. The loss of a man like Martyn is deep and profound. May you be comforted by the fact that his memory will live on forever. I am certain that my own heart will always smile when I think of him.

I have never known another so kind, funny, and genuine as Martyn. His sincere love for people is an exceptional and rare quality in which we should all should strive to possess. As a tribute to Martyn, I will strive to smile a bit wider, speak a bit kinder, and love a bit deeper.

I'm not sure how describe Martyn. He was hilarious, usually on purpose. He was a talker, to anyone that would listen. He was an artist, either with stone or paints. He was a man of many talents and will be missed by many people. And I am reminded of him daily when I look at his son and grand-daughter. Every time I go in to a shop to have "a quick 5 minutes" I will think of him.
