Les was my mate from way back, we lost touch for a lot of years when I emigrated to the land of Aus, we caught up again in a very round about way, Les somehow found out that I had joined the Australian navy, he checked up on ships and crews, but by then I had joined the silent service (submarines) so he contacted the HMAS Perth assoc as that was the only surface ship that I had served on and the only reference he had, I wasn't a member but my brother was, so they contacted him, he contacted me and inturn I contacted Les. Pat and I had a couple of great trips to the UK to visit, the first time was in 2014 and we met Lynne his loverly wife that he lost not to long after that, then we visited again last year, this time we met his two fine sons and their partners, we also drank a lot of rum and scotch and reminised about our misspent youth.
Rest in peace mate, you are in a better place I will miss our email conversations, your warped sense of humour. I hope I can keep in touch with your family.
