In loving memory of Philip McAulay who sadly passed away on 30th January 2017.

Phil McAulay (also known as Sugar) was born in Hospital Street, son of Kate and Benjamin, he grew up in the Gorbals with his two brothers and sister John, Joe and Molly and loved playing football with his brother John which he did most days after school until he was shouted in by Kate. He was supposedly the 'King of Moashey' (Not sure of spelling!) and this talent also runs in our family!

Phil completed 2 years National Service in Belfast and then worked in the construction industry for the remainder of his life until he retired.

Phil met Rose Kelly, who he married in 1961 and had 4 boys, Phil, Ralph, John and David, they moved to Toryglen before moving back to the Gorbals in later years. Phil is a Grandad to Mark, Jacqueline, Donna, Adele and Lawrence and Great-Grandad to Ava and Owen.

He was kind, a true gentleman and was always smartly dressed but if you annoyed him then you would be sure to get a mouthful! He enjoyed socialising with his friends and family, liked the odd bet now and again (which he was quite good at) and enjoyed singing his favourite song St. Therese of the Roses. He also loved watching and taking his sons to see his beloved Celtic and this created some of the best memories the family have.
