Dear Ian, David and Jill

We heard the news of Bunny through a neighbour. We were so saddened to hear the news that such a wonderful, kind, spirited and vibrant lady with such a zest for life has gone. Bunny/Mrs Wilson, was, despite her size, a big part of our cul-de-sac and the lives of those of us who grew up there. In fact we still refer to her old house here as the Wilson's/Bunny's house. She had time for so many people and would listen to all we had to tell her with huge interest. I last saw her in 2015 when I delivered a Christmas card to her and, on a whim, decided to see if she was in. I had the most wonderful time with her and was astounded by her energy and sense of humour. She left me feeling totally energised by her conversation and I still laugh at the idea that she would try on her granddaughter's high heeled shoes to see what they were like! I know that, for us, the world will be a sadder place without her in it. We know that the loss of your mother will run far deeper and our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

Bunny was very loved within the Wollaton community and I know that my parents thought so highly of her. As Celia said in her message, we feel blessed to have known her and to have been able to share moments of time with her.

With much love
Margaret and Clare Simcock

Dear Ian, David and Jill
Thank you for letting us know the sad news that your mum has passed away. I have always had a special affection for her ever since I was young and was living next door to her. My earliest memories of her are of her always having time to take an interest in my activities, despite her having three children of her own to be fussing over. I would show her my sewing and knitting skills or my latest Brownie badges, and she took a genuine interest in them. Once I was old enough she trusted me with Jill and I took her several times into Wollaton Park and we played roly-poly down the bank in front of the Hall. Alan was then introduced to your mum and he felt a warm welcome from her and we both enjoyed visiting her when we were up in Nottingham. Sadly the last time we saw her was in 2002 but she was as bubbly about life as she had always been. We exchanged Christmas and birthday cards and letters and her sense of humour and outlook on life were always amusing. Another memory from my young days was being invited on my own to lunch with you all and she made this wonderful pudding which I still make and is known by my family as Mrs Wilson’s pudding. Our children grew up with it and it hasn’t done them any harm! As you will notice, it is not known as Bunny’s pudding because as a child I only knew her as Mrs Wilson and that was how it stayed ~ such formality for such an informal warm and kind-natured person. We feel blessed to have known her.

With love from Celia and Alan xx
