The Chris I knew was a shining light. Strong. Determined. I know that Chris preferred to be referred to as him in later life but Chris was female and thought of herself that way when I knew her so I can only write this on the memories I have. I hope Chris wouldn't mind too much.
She didn't take any nonsense from anyone. She was brave, forthright and occasionally this got her into trouble with teachers that sought to close down her honesty and confidence. They never succeeded. Chris stood up for me against Mrs MacDonald, our bullying maths teacher who continually put me down and shouted at Chris. She always stood up to be counted when her friends were bullied or put down. She was the most loyal, fierce friend. Her capacity for love was enormous, and her love for Jenny unconditional. She was kind, generous and very gentle at times. She had a great appreciation of the spiritual and I hope this helped her in later life.
Chris lived life to the maximum of its potential. She did not concern herself with rules and norms, she grabbed fun and adventure whenever and wherever she could. Her loss is a sadness, and the world a little dimmer without her in it. She deserved better, and I hope now she has it, and is at peace. A bit of our hearts go with you Chris. You will be remembered. All my love, Ceri xxxx
