A rose once grew where all could see,
Sheltered beside a garden wall,
And, as the days passed swiftly by,
It spread its branches straight and tall...

One day a beam of light shone through,
A crevice that had opened wide -
The rose bent gently towards its warmth
Then passed beyond to the other side...

Now, you who deeply feel its loss
Be comforted - the rose blooms there-
It's beauty even greater now.
Nurtured by God's own loving care.

This poem reminds me of you grandad, as you loved your roses. I still remember the rose you gave me on my first holy communion. Until we meet again grandad.

Lots of love always
Danielle (or as you liked to call me Mary Lou) xxx

I remember the day that I met you,
I remember the day God made you mine,
I remember the day God called you away,
And will til the end of time.

A husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it and only god knows why.
We miss you dearly, no words can describe.
The emptiness we feel and whole you have left behind.
So Good night god bless , until we meet again.
Say hi to all the family, In our heart you will all remain.

Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday 11th January at 1pm at Our Lady & St Patrick’s The Meadows then Wilford Hill for the burial.

Family flowers only. Donations to the British Heart Foundation can be given directly or after service
