In loving memory of Norwin Mary Barrett who sadly passed away on 16th December 2016

Reception into Our Lady and St Edward's church, Gordon Road, St Ann's will be at 5:30pm on Thursday 5th January. Funeral Mass 10.15 am Friday 6th January. We would like people to join us at the Greyfriars afterwards to celebrate Norwin's life.

Norwin was a much loved and devoted mother to five children and an adoring grandmother to her five grandchildren, and loving sister to her brother Michael.

Norwin loved life and while she fought her battle with cancer for many years, always remained positive and grabbed life with both hands, never wasting a minute. Many lovely family memories were created and we will remember these times and look back fondly on the time we were blessed to have with her.

By request, family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to Hayward House. Many thanks.

My beautiful Mum - Words can not explain how I feel now you are no longer here with us. I feel privileged to have had you as my Mum and you were also the best Grandparent Sam and Anais could have asked for. You were beautiful inside and out, strong, loyal and inspirational and have taught me how to be a good parent and friend. I will miss our chats and your advice. I will miss your smile, laughter and positivity you showed at all times regardless of how you might have been feeling. You left a lasting impression on everyone you met. Our hearts are broken and you will be sorely missed, but your spirit and strength will live on in us all xxxx

  • Norwin was my friend when we were young teenagers working together in Earlsfort Terrace, UCD Library. Memories of walking across St Stephen’s Green to lunch. Shopping in the Basement Boutique. Norwin was lovely in every way. I remember her gorgeous auburn hair and freckles.

Norwin,

Such a lovely lady, you didn't deserve the pain that you suffered.
Family and friends meant everything to you and you always put others before yourself.
You welcomed me into your family from the first time I met you and I always enjoyed calling in to see you, I will miss our chats and the time we spent together.
Kevin often tells me stories of his childhood and they always make me smile but he is so proud of all you did for your family and how strong you remained throughout difficult times in your life, we all are.
Rest in peace now Norwin, you will be forever missed but always remembered with a smile.

To my wonderful Mum

My perfect Mum, you are sorely missed, not just by myself and family but by everyone you ever met.
You were so strong and selfless, so decent and loving.
Reading through all these comments has actually cheered me up.
You are in a better place now, I will never, ever forget you.
Rest in peace
Your loving Son

My friend Norwin was a loyal, kind and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Her sparkling eyes were infectious, her zest for life enormous and her bravery and positivity facing her illness knew no bounds. In the face of adversity she was strong and courageous and a weaker person would not have been able to overcome some of the tragedies life bestowed on her. Norwin never spoke disrespectfully about others and kept up friendships over many decades even after moving to Nottingham.
Friends for nearly 50 years I will always treasure the memories, the wild parties in Dunlaoghaire and Sandycove (where uninvited busloads arrived), our chats and laughs, your visits to Dublin and mine to Nottingham.
Suaimhneas síoraí na bhFhlaitheas duit a Norwin in éineacht le do dheirfiúracha Jean agus Miriam.
Love Deirdre x
