Mum was born in Greenwich on the 20th of June 1937. She was brought up in St. Mary's Cray and was there throughout her childhood, including during the Blitz and was never evacuated.
She met my Dad (Pat) very young and they got married when she was just 17. They had their first child David (me) when she was 19. They went on to have two further children; Allan and Peter and have five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She worked hard for her family her whole life, at one time having three jobs to save money for their first house in Orpington. Mum and Dad never wanted anything for themselves, always saving hard so we could have holidays, or treat the kids or grandchildren Mum would give you her last penny. They lived there for many years until retirement and ill health dictated that they move into somewhere without stairs, they sold their house and moved into a bungalow in Lydd, Kent. They have also been very happy in Lydd, surrounded by good friends and neighbours, who are always there to help.
After several heart attacks and two strokes, the last one leaving her severely disabled and she was unable to use he hands correctly. The whole time she never complained and when asked how she was, she always answered "I'm alright dear" but in truth, she had been in pain for many years. She would always manage to squeeze in a smile, despite her pain. She finally did not have the strength to recover from an infection and while in hospital, passed away on the third of December 2016.
She is survived by her loving husband Pat and her three sons; David, Allan and Peter and their children and grandchildren.
May she rest in Peace.
