I remember Chris coming to meet me from the coach at Gallowgate and taking me down to the Broken Doll. It was a looooong time ago! Another time he cooked tea for us and I ate it as fast as I could before Rita realised there was meat in it - that would have been my first experience of veggie mince! He also grew a melon in Wallsend - not many have THAT claim! When I saw Chris in the summer it was clear that he still took so much joy from his garden. But his biggest pride had to be his lovely girls xx

I knew Chris many years ago when he was living with Rita and their dog, Winston, in Newcastle upon Tyne. I liked him, he was a clever, funny man. At that time he was teaching himself to programme computers in Fortran. He told me about Fortran without making me feel stupid. Rita was my friend, we met working behind a bar in Byker. Chris and Rita moved to Devon because he had a great job doing geological stuff, I only visited once. it's such a long way. He had his wet suit on the line. He loved his job then. He loved his girls. I'm sad to hear he has gone. Rest now Chris x

  • Thanks Jan- wow, we were all so young then. Where has the time gone? If I close my eyes it feels like yesterday. X
