In loving memory of Mary Shevlin who sadly passed away on 23rd November 2016

Dear Aunt Mary,
We are so glad that we were able to spend time with you back in 2005 when we were visiting the UK and were so touched that you travelled all the way to Australia to celebrate our wedding day with us.
Aunt Mary was a generous, funny, caring lady who always had a story to tell and made delicious ham and Dijon mustard sandwiches!
We will never forgot our time spent with you.
Rest in peace.
Love Joe and Suzie Shevlin

"In Memory of Mary,

My Aunt Mary was one of the most generous people I have ever known, and she treated all of her brother Peter's children, as her own (although she was far less strict, much to our delight!).

I have many happy memories, -- from staying at her wonderful big old house, 'The Orchard', in Kenilworth - to her regular visits to see us in Australia. As children, we could barely contain our excitement at the prospect of Mary's arrival, and she would be treated to as many 'Aussie' experiences as possible, including getting up close to the various wildlife....On one memorable occasion, a muddy bathtub, full of tortoises and lizards greeted her on arrival, courtesy of James, who was keeping them as 'pets'. Mary had to use the shower instead, but I never heard her complain.

Mary was the fun-loving, chatty (extremely chatty), Aunt, who travelled the world, and welcomed us into her home whenever we visited the UK. She introduced me to the hedonistic pleasure of drinking coffee, (just to be social), and to the magic of Shakespeare plays at Stratford, and to Luxembourg, where the car door snapped off from the cold, and a memorable visit to Ireland, crossing the border illegally, just by charming the guards!

Mary happily drove us around the countryside to see the sights, but being a passenger in Mary's car had it's 'risks'. I will never forget the time she actually stopped in the middle of a motorway, put the car into reverse (oblivious to the traffic behind us), just to show us a lovely view through a gap in the trees! Negotiating the roundabout at Coventry station was another thrill, (in our jet-lagged state) on arrival too! Needless to say, as the years passed, we always offered to do the driving!

I will treasure all these, and many other memories of Mary back in her younger, healthier days. Even as her health deteriorated, a couple of years ago, she was still offering to jump on a plane out to Australia to lend a hand with Peter and Margaret!
You will always have a special place in my heart Mary, Rest in Peace

All my love
Caroline
