Cornelius “John” Barry,
of Church Road, Abertridwr, Caerphilly.
3 December 1947 – 25 November 2016

Passed away peacefully at UHW, Cardiff
Born and Raised in Brithdir, New Tredegar,
eldest son of Con and Sheila, survived by his brother Paul.
Married his “cherie amour” Lynne in 1970,
lived in Abertridwr since 1972.

John served with the Welsh Guards from 1965 to 1970.
He worked at Groes-faen colliery, Windsor /Nantgarw colliery
and Trelewis Drift Mine as a pit deputy / fireman.
When this closed, he worked at Cardiff Royal Infirmary
until forced to retire on ill health.
John lost his legs in 2008 and 2009, but showed determination
and success in walking again.
His acts of bravery, courage, kindness and generosity are known
by those who knew and loved him.

His legacy are his beloved children - Jim, Deb and Jared
and his equally beloved grandchildren -
Luke, Ieuan, Isaac, Seren, Rebekah, Amelia, Jacob, Noa

Funeral – 6th December 2016 at 10.00.a.m.
At the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Heol Llanishen Fach, Rhiwbina, Cardiff,
and burial at Pantmawr cemetery, Cardiff.

John was known as someone who would go out of his way to help others, and his reputation for kindness, generosity, humour and courage spread beyond his close family. He and Lynne brought up three children to be proud of in Jim, Deb and Jared, and their grandchildren have brought great joy.

I will always remember John when I used to stand on My nans front number 25 church road and talk to him about things was such a nice gentle caring man and will be sadly missed by many people.
