Christine Frisby was a popular, successful and dedicated secondary school teacher of Mathematics.
She was born in Middlesex and brought up in Hayes by her parents, Roy and Alma Peggrem, where she attended Townfield Comprehensive School.
After 'O' Levels, her later commitment to the education and welfare of children and young people was reflected by her choice of subsequent voluntary work: assisting at the local Minet Infant School.
Christine's steely academic determination gained her straight 'A' grades at Uxbridge Technical College and a first class honours degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Westfield College, University of London in 1985, by which time she had met her long-term partner (and latterly, husband), Clifford, then studying Mathematics and Music at Roehampton Institute.
A Postgraduate Certificate in Education took Christine into teaching posts in inner London, including several years at the respected North Westminster Community School in Paddington.
She moved to Guildford in 1990 when Clifford's job with British Aerospace relocated to the Surrey/Sussex border, and took up a new teaching post at the Ashcombe School in Dorking.
Dorset (a favourite childhood holiday destination) beckoned in 2000, and for several years Christine taught at Ferndown Upper School, moving in 2007 to the popular and deceptively rural Lytchett Minster School near Poole, during which time she also helped to nurture the talents of new teachers.
Christine's teaching style combined an energetic enthusiasm for her subject with excellent classroom management and concern, both academic and pastoral, for each individual student.
Outside work (and quite often in!), Christine loved to sing, was a member of the West Moors Singers for about fifteen years. She was an avid reader, and also enjoyed gardening, walking and travelling.
In her 50th birthday year she realised a long-held wish to tour the Canadian Rockies with Clifford, and they spent at memorable Christmas that same year with Clifford's brother's family in Dallas, Texas.
Prior to October 2016, Christine had never spent a night in hospital, but was then tragically diagnosed with cancer which was beyond effective treatment. She passed away a few weeks later at home in Dorset, in the presence of close family, aged just 52. She is survived by her husband, mother and sister Julie, and also by her beloved 18-year-old cat Yardy (although he himself died just three days later).
Many moving tributes have been offered by those whose lives she touched as a teacher and mentor, on the Lytchett Minster School website:
