I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear that Laurie had passed away, I’ve been fortunate and honoured to be able to work in Teradata alongside Laurie since 1991 until he retired in 2014. In that time he was a brilliant mentor for me and many, many others in the company, he taught me so much.
There are probably many of us who remember his helpful nature and also his humour masked in a cutting remark when you’d “cocked up” somewhere on a customer site, but he would always be alongside you in digging you out.
You’ll be greatly missed Laurie, as people have already intimated a true legend, a trusted work colleague and a great friend.

I was shocked to hear the very sad news of Laurie passing away.
I've known Laurie since 1999 when I first joined NCR/Teradata. He was a great mentor and I learnt a lot from him. He was a very helpful, calm, and humorous person.
I was already sad when he retired. Now I can't find words to describe how I feel to grasp the fact that he's gone.
He was a great person and will be missed deeply.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend his funeral, but my heart will be with you all.

I was so sorry to hear the unbelievably sad and terrible news of Laurie passing away and my deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

Laurie and I were colleagues at Teradata for a very long time. Laurie was always an extremely supportive and helpful colleague; dealing with everything in a calm and professional manner, even when it was a major issue. Indeed, his problem solving abilities gained legendary status within Teradata.

He was also a delight to spend time with socially. I always enjoyed sharing a pint with him at our regular Christmas get togethers, and more recently at a number of retirement celebrations. It is so very sad that he didn't have more time to enjoy his well earned retirement.

Laurie, you will be much missed.

Laurie was a true legend with Teradata.
He was a great and caring colleague and it was always a pleasure to work with him.
I have so many great memories of get togethers.
The cities we visited during our RTS days meetings and enjoying the golden nectar together with the team.
We already missed him and his humor since his early retirement in July 2014.
Tough to grasp he's really no longer with us.
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the funeral in person.
My heart goes out to his family and friends and I wish you all loads of strength with this tremendous loss.

I have many fond memories of working with Laurie. He made it a pleasure to be with him and always cared for you and your wellbeing. Will be hugely missed by all who came into contact with him.
Sadly my own health prevents me from attending the funeral. My thoughts are with you all.
