In loving memory of Roy Harry Tratt who sadly passed away on 18th October 2016.

Roy was the beloved Husband of Vivien, Father to David and Robert, Father-in-Law to Perminder, Grandad to Variaam, Anaand and Jaikaar, Brother to Joan, family member and friend to many.

Please share your memories and photos of Roy with us all.

We will be celebrating Roy's life following the funeral at 4pm on 2nd November and we would be delighted to see you at The Oaks Golf Club, Woodmansterne Road, Carshalton, Surrey SM5 4AN

Roy has been my mentor for about 20 years. I'm not sure why he took me under his wing, but he did and he's been consistent at checking in on me every year since to make sure that I've been living the life that we'd agreed way back then. It's to him that I owe a very large credit for some of the best qualities and values I have developed and where I am today. His last wish for me was that I might finally settle down so I'm glad that I got to see him about a year ago, and introduce him to my partner.

I will miss him very much but he's provided so much inspiration over the years, that I dare not think that I can rest on my laurels, or that I can slack-off on our agreement, because I can still hear him 'having a word' (and wagging his finger) and know that the best way to honour his memory, would be to ensure that I continue to be the women he has encouraged.

To Vivien (and Rob and David), thank you for allowing me to have the relationship I did with him and I hope that I can continue to be a good friend to you now that he has gone.

With all my love,
Jumoke xxx

My uncle Roy .... Who tormented me ... Took the Micky out of my vapours .... Who helped inspired me and helped make me the Woman I am today ... To take it on the chin, give what I get and stand up for myself... I thank you for that. You have also had so much time for Ellie, taught her the most random words, taught her tricks and always made her centre of your attention ........ Taken too soon ... So much more to learn from you. Xxx

So sorry to hear the sad news . Thinking of you Vivien and family and have very fond memories of Roy , my big cousin. Roy Always had time for teasing and making us laugh . Particularly remember his magic fireplace trick aided by uncle Tim. It's clear he touched the lives of many in a very positive way .
Sorry I can't pay my respects a fractured foot keeps me away but will always be remembering Roy.

Camping at Camber Sands 1960 - not the best quality picture but the original is only 2” square – Roy is third from the right. We cycled there overnight – well, we were 16!

In our last few years at Barking Abbey school, Roy and I were part of a ‘gang’ of good mates who enjoyed card-playing (3-card Brag anyone?), pub singalongs, jazz clubs, bike riding (including ‘funny fags’ in Hainault Forest, Camber Sands camping, etc), and showing our support for West Ham in the South Bank at Upton Park! Then Roy and I lost touch as we went our separate ways after leaving the Abbey in 1962.

We count ourselves fortunate that fate brought us together again in 2000, when we met up with Roy and ‘Roy’s Rock’ (aka Vivien), plus other ‘Old Barks’, for a very happy reunion (see pics). Since then, we have maintained contact with Roy and Viv, and enjoyed the pleasure of their company both in the UK and at our home in Canada. We have enjoyed Roy’s tales of his Dad, his witticisms, and his evident knowledge of music from our era.

In these latter years, we have also admired his strength of character, doggedness and determination to beat the odds as he faced up to his medical issues…he will be sorely missed.

We will unfortunately not be able to attend the funeral, but we will be there in spirit to lend our support and appreciation of a life well-lived. Nancy and I send our sincere condolences to Vivien, David, Robert and all other family members…Roy Harry, RIP mate.

dear Viv

We send our most sincere condolences on your sad loss. We know Roy will be sorely missed by you and all your family.

I've known Roy since 1958 and in those early years Tim, Maud and Joan played a big part in my life, and we had some great times together. Roy's wit and repartee were not to be missed, especially at parties. In later years, both you and Roy welcomed Marg into your family. We have been good friends ever since and have had some great days together over the years.

We were extremely sad when we were told of Roy's passing whilst we were on holiday in Cornwall, and we raised a few glasses to his memory - goes without saying really!

Love to you and your family, Peter and Marg

Sincere condolences for your loss. Roy was a big part in my life when we were in our early twenties. His sister Joan and his mum and dad were together one great family, and we had some great times. Roy was in fact my best man at my wedding having come round to deliver the news that his brother in law Peter, had broken his leg two days earlier.
We need not of worried Roy performed the role without a hitch, and had the assembled gathering spellbound such was his magic. I feal privileged to have known him.
