Dear David's children and all his friends and relatives.
I wish I could be at the funeral but sadly I am in Spain.
It is true that David being my cousin means that I never was privileged enough to get to know his children (this happens a lot). We all go about our lives and the time just goes by.
Heather I like the four photos on this site. I wish I had known you all.
I first time I became aware of my cousin Dave when I was in junior school in Tottenham and at Christmas I would visit him and my uncle Donald in Fulham. We used to go to Bertram Mills Circus and fun-fair. I then rekindled the relationship when my parents, sadly not so lucky to have such a nice home life like David's family, had to move to Swindon and I and my brother used to meet David and his older brother Keith at their house in Dixon Street or many times they would come over to my Uncle Patrick’s house in Swindon Road and we all four used to walk to St. Joseph's school. David was 11, I was 12, Keith was 13 and my Brother John 14. I also remember when David's other relatives (the Miller family) Patrick, Brian (a singer in a band and now sadly no longer here), Patsy, Lover Girl and Michael came to England so then I had an extended family :-).
David was my closest cousin, at that time and for some years, before we moved on in different directions, I getting married at 17. I remember going to the Locarno dance hall with David and I think it was his first dance. I also remember buying TV Bingo bubble gum every day going to school with him. I recall David getting his first snare drum and learning to play the 1910 Fruit Gum Company song (Simple Simon) and then David joined a successful group/band. He enjoyed his time playing with the band.
David was always, 100 percent an intelligent gentleman, loving husband and great father. I cannot think of ever finding fault with David even while young teenagers and playing football all together in the Town Gardens David always had the right attitude.
I do not know if David used to use, we all have our favourite words, the same words when older but I remember him saying 'good fun'. I think he had good fun and I find it very hard to talk about David in the past tense. :-(
Clearly, like most people, I thought about David countless times over all these years but never got around to letting g him know what a wonderful cousin he was and what great memorise he gave me.
A real loss to all of us.
With all my sympathy and feelings to all.
Vince and Mary Farrar
