In loving memory of Avril Hobley who sadly passed away on 3rd October 2016, aged 75 years.
Avril Hobley (Nelson) was born on the 17th April 1941 born to Thomas and Myrtle Nelson and her childhood was spent growing up with her sister Christine in County Durham. Her first school was Molly Doddle and her secondary school was Brandon school. Avril's first job was in the mens wear department in the co-op and her boss was a George Birch. George was married to Joan Birch (Hobley). John Hobley's eldest sister on visiting his sister Joan he meets Avril Nelson, thats how the story unfolds. They married in 1962 and moved down to Harborough Magna. She was 21 when she married. She then went on to work at Marks and Spenser's in the clothing department. She went on to have three lovely sons David, Andrew and Stuart. When the children were young she worked part time cleaning jobs including the local Gp and she opened the village hall for a Saturday surgery. She then went on to work at both golden lions as a Bar Maid in Harborough Magna and Easenhall. When the children were a bit older she became a dinner lady at Harborough Magna school. However the bulk of working life was spent at St Mary's Nursing home as a carer. Just before retirement she did the evening teas. Avril's hobbies were reading, crosswords, gardening, knitting and crocheting as well as going on holidays at home and abroad with grandchildren Jamie, Declan, Aidan and Sophie and her daughter in-law Gail.
