Yesterday was your birthday my love. The first one without you.
We chose that day to place you in your final resting place. In the memorial garden right next to my Dad overlooking Southwark Park. I know you would like being there with Dad and I can take some comfort from the fact that the 2 men I loved most in the world are together.
I will always miss you my darling but will visit you often.
God bless. Sweet dreams
All my love always
Your little lady
Carol

Brian Frederick Castle (12 Nov 1954 - 26 Sep 2016)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Brian Frederick Castle who sadly passed away on 26th September 2016.
Brian was born on 12th November 1954 at 16 Woodlands Park Road, Greenwich, where he lived with his parents Albert and Doris and his older sister Carol.
He attended Meridian Primary School and Charlton Secondary School.
In 1971 he joined Marshall Andrews Ltd as an apprentice Carpenter and Joiner. He passed his apprenticeship with credit and went on to work for Delta Metal Company and Babcock Power. In 1989 he joined City & Guilds Institute as a Maintenance Engineer. He was awarded Licensership of City & Guilds Institute (LCGI) in Carpentry and Joinery in 1993 of which he was very proud. He retired from City & Guilds in 2013.
During a holiday to the Isle of Wight in 1977 Brian met Carol Dobner and they married on the 26th August 1978 in St Crispin's Church, Bermondsey and 6 weeks later Brian was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
Brian and Carol had two daughters, Joanna born in 1980 and Michelle born in 1985. They lived in Cherry Garden Street, Bermondsey opposite Carol's mum and Dad and Brian enjoyed Sunday drinks at the Old Justice with Carol's Dad Bill and Uncle Bill. They moved to Stave Yard Road, Surrey Quays in 1997 and remained there.
Brian was an avid Charlton Athletic supporter, attending games at the Valley over many years with his Dad and mates. He passed his love of the Valley onto his youngest daughter Michelle to stop her from going to Millwall and they were proud season ticket holders for 10 years.
Brian was proud to walk both his daughters down the aisle. Joanna to Craig in 2005 and Michelle to Dan in 2015. Joanna and Craig gave Brian two grandsons Billy and Tommy. Brian was a very proud grandad and told everyone about his two little fellas.
Holidays were one of Brian's loves and every year him and Carol returned to the Isle of Wight and this has now become a family tradition. He also enjoyed holidays to Leysdown at Carol's mum and dad's chalet. Later Brian and Carol travelled further afield and Cyprus become their favourite holiday destination.
In 2009 diabetic problems started to arise and Brian battled with a lot of complications. From January this year Brian attended Alan Apley ward in St Thomas's hospital on a monthly basis. He became well known on the ward and the staff all looked after him well. This is where he finally passed away peacefully on Monday 26th September with Carol, his girls and family by his side.
Carol, Joanna and Michelle would like people to send flowers from Rene's Florist in Jamaica Road, Bermondsey or donate to Diabetes UK.
