Dear Bapuji today would have been your 90th birthday! We miss you and wish you could reached 90 here on Earth with us. We will miss celebrating your Mile Stone but of course we’ll salute you wherever you are. So sending my love into the Universe and I hope that you will receive my wishes. We remember you everyday and talk about you all the time! There is always an empty space in the house and many times I think that you will walk through the door and ask why we were up so late! Lallu Nana sent a photo of you on your travels in Europe when you in your twenties/ early thirties and you were so handsome - you looked like a model. I always appreciated your style and good taste in everything.
Any way it’s 5am and I still haven’t gone to sleep but I thought of you being 90 and wanted to send a message to Heaven and into the Universe. Here’s to you Bapuji, you will always be forever in our heart. Much love from your daughter and all the family xxxxxx

About our Dad - Dearest Bapuji
Bapuji Haribhai, was a very respected, visionary, intelligent, humble, generous man who was firm in his views. His genuine and helpful ways and advice were greatly valued by so many. He always wanted for all those he knew, to help them plan the best for their futures as well as to help relatives, friends to secure their future life by readily sharing his helpful knowledge (on so many topics) which he gave in great abundance. He valued technological innovations and wanted to know so much as possible about 'tomorrow's world'. He predicted about the use of computers as early as the 1960s. Haribhai was a social person, enjoyed sports and dancing, he also had a good sense of humour. He had quality, class and style.
Bapuji Haribhai valued his Indian, Gujarati roots as well as living in Britain for over sixty years building a very successful life for himself and his family. He lived with his family in Upton Park, East London and then moved to Bermondsey South East London. where through his visional skills he purchased a property on Hull Close from simply the blue prints.
For Mum (Ichchhaben/Sitaben of Delwada), he built the huge temple Baliyadev Bapa Mandir in Bedchit India in the name of Jai Baliyadev.
In the sixty years in Britain he acquired many career paths which was due to his mature and courageous qualities and by the age of 22 in September of 1956, Haribhai got on an aeroplane (unusual and pioneering in those days) and ventured out to London from the Gujarat in India, where he settled successfully making the best of the opportunities set before him. He left a legacy for future generations through his vision. He inspired so many. We love you Bapuji, you will be greatly missed but always remembered with a smile.
Bapuji believed that Education was the gateway to everything and he never stopped absorbing knowledge unless he was prevented. He had worked as a Bus Conductor, moving on to designing/planning kitchens, to owning his own business on 212 Jamaica Road, landlord of property letting.
Bapuji, son of Gokalbhai Nathabhai Patel and Gomtiben Gokalbhai - we are proud of everything you have done for us. Your children Vijyaben, Prabha and Jaydev (Jay/ Jalu) will miss you and remember you everyday, we are proud to carry your Family's genes, ever connected to the Universe. A wonderful loving husband, a firm and quietly proud father of the three of us and a joyfully delighted generous grandfather and great grandfather. May you safely reach the gates of Heaven.
