Phil, our neighbour in Sycamore Close since 2008, was an amazing man. As we got to know him, we discovered that he had been a footballer at a high level in his younger days. This shared interest in the sport led to many prolonged discussions on the current state of the game. Mike and Phil took to visiting each other and making the coffee during their respective bouts of ill health. Their friendship developed further when they became 'gym buddies' during weekly sessions in the Evergreen Suite at the Rushcliffe Arena.
Phil had a wonderful sense of humour, which he never lost, even on his most difficult days of feeling unwell. He was witty, loved to banter, and never lost an opportunity to tease you. He was brave and stoic; we never heard him complaining, despite all the challenges posed by ill health. We have lost a friend, and he will be greatly missed in Sycamore Close.

In loving memory of Philip Beresford who sadly passed away on 4th September 2016.
Philip was born and grew up in Chesterfield. He was 7 and 14 before his two sisters arrived. He attended Hollingwood Infant and Junior School and Staveley Netherthorpe Grammar School. Leaving Chesterfield after A Levels to attend Bradford and then Liverpool Universities. Philip started his career at Courtaulds in Coventry before moving to Holywell and starting married life.
His first son was born there before a move to Derby and number two son arrived on Phil's birthday. A move to Manchester meant seven years in Rochdale where his daughter was born. The whole family moved to Ramsgate when Phil worked in Broadstairs. In 1989 the family uprooted and moved to Nottingham when Philip started work at Fisons in Loughborough. Spells were spent in Manchester and Cheshire before he retired at 55 years.
Philip enjoyed his time travelling the world both through work and with his family. Some photos here show him at his happiest...
