In loving memory of Brendan O'Rourke who sadly passed away on 10th September 2016.

Brendan, a loving father to four sons, grandfather to eight grandchildren, and husband to beloved wife Pauline, (affectionately named Paula by Brendan).

Brendan unexpectedly passed away at the age of 77 . He was born in Cork City on 5th August 1939 to parents Catherine & Jeremiah and was part of a big family, one of nine siblings (5 sisters and 4 brothers).

Brendan moved to Nechells in Birmingham from Cork City during the 50's at the young age of 18, and continued to make Birmingham his home working as a welder. He met Pauline, the love of his life in 1961, and they got married in 1965. Pauline and Brendan raised a family of four boys throughout their long 51 year marriage.

Brendan was retired from engineering, but wasn't a man to sit still for very long. You could always find Brendan walking his dogs Tilly and Ellie in the park, feeding the ducks, or feeding wild birds. Brendan devoted his time gardening and caring for his beloved pets, along with any local wildlife lucky enough to cross his path. He was enthusiastic about visiting historic places of interest with his good friend Len, and enjoyed swimming with Pauline. Brendan was very well known locally due to his fun, friendly character and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Meeting Brendan was one of the highlights of my life. I live across the pond and grew up knowing of Uncle Jer's family, my first cousins, but we didn't meet until later in life. What a blessing that has been. Brendan was as excited about meeting us and learning more about our O'Rourke family as we have been. In the years since we have grown closer and feel such a bond with him. I am so proud of my dear cousin and will miss him greatly. God rest his soul.

We are so fortunate and grateful for having met our cousin, Brendan. Through him, we were able to know our Irish family a little better. Even though we only met once, Brendan made a lasting impression. His friendly and caring nature were obvious. Over the years, he became more than family, he became a dear and cherished friend. Brendan will be missed and will always holds a special place in our hearts.
