In loving memory of my dad, Peter Frederick Folkard who sadly passed away on 20th August 2016.

Dad was diagnosed with lung and bowel cancer 18 months ago. He went through one round of chemo and one round of radiotherapy. He found the whole business incredibly stressful and eventually decided not to have further treatment, knowing that it wouldn't do much good. In the last few weeks he became very poorly but mum and I were so relieved and grateful that he got a room in St Christopher's Hospice for his last nine days.
Since dad became very ill, mum and I were both bowled over by the wonderful NHS palliative team, but the hospice is a very special place indeed. Dad was lucky to get in but many others are not so lucky and do not receive the love and care that a hospice provides in their last days. With this in mind, if anyone would like to donate to St Christophers in dad's memory, then please follow the just giving link below.
For those who knew him, I hope you will remember him as the life and soul of any party, and for his generosity and loyalty. He was my dad. I loved him.

Peter was my boss when I first started working and was one of the funniest and most inspiring people I have met. For some reason I was just thinking about him and dad to find he has passed. He will certainly be remembered by me.

  • Thank you Laurence - that's really kind - what a lovely message. Were you with dad at Reeds or Ekman Cleave?
