In loving memory of Laurence Murphy who sadly passed away on 3rd August 2016.
My dad, Larry to everyone who knew him, passed away on Monday 3rd August aged 92 after a short period of illness. Much loved husband, father and grandfather of my late mum, Winnie; children Susan, Tony and our late brother Robert , and granddaughter Amie. Great-granddad to Ralph and Barnaby. Brother to sister Kathleen.
Larry worked for GEC all his working life after serving as a nursing auxillary in WW2, working in battle field hospitals and nursing concentration camp survivors. This was to colour his view of how health services were delivered for the rest of his life, not always a comfortable experience for medical professionals treating him over the years!
He was a hardworking man with an appetite for the good things in life , especially French wine, and a strong creative streak. He was an accomplished amateur photographer and member of the GEC Photographic Society as well as a voracious reader, interested in poetry , philosophy , 20th century history and crime fiction . This only scratches the surface of amuch loved and complex man at the end of a full life.
