In loving memory of Dr Prasanta Chakraborti who sadly passed away on 7th August 2016 aged 76 years.
Beloved husband to Alaka, loving father to Neil, Peu and Tara, and a proud grandfather to Freya and Benny.
He will be sadly missed by all who love and know him.
Prasanta was born in the village of Diamond Harbour, India, and qualified as a doctor from Nil Ratan Sirkar Medical college in Kolkata, where he met his wife Alaka. After getting married in 1967 they came to the UK for further professional qualifications and experience and to support the National Health Service. After eight years of hospital work within different roles and based in different parts of the country, Prasanta and Alaka entered into General Practice where they spent nearly 30 years as partners before retiring together in 2005.
Despite suffering numerous setbacks to his health following retirement, Prasanta remained utterly determined to enjoy life as fully as possible. He authored a book, entitled 'The Man Who Refuses to Die' (published in 2011 and available here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Man-Who-Refuses-Die/dp/1907540490) which is a short autobiographical account of his early life, his time in England and his journey from doctor to patient. Even in declining health Prasanta kept his spirits up, resisted all stereotypes and continued to be a source of inspiration to everyone around him. We shall never forget him.
