In loving memory of David Broomfield who sadly passed away on 28th July 2016.
David, a quiet, calm, studios man, who lived his life in a very relaxed manner, was born 15th July 1944 at his grandparent's home in Gainsborough to parents Alan and Kathleen.
David had many interests. As a young boy he loved reading and created various objects out of Meccano and getting into mischief with the usual young boy antics!!! Which he often got into with his cousin Yvonne!
After passing his 11+ he attended Gainsborough Grammar School. He excelled in Science and Maths, leaving school at the age of 16 to enter the workforce. He worked in the wages department for Roses and Caldicots and then as a Civil Servant at the Tax Office until he retired.
Whilst working at Rose Brothers, he met Jo, his future wife. She thought he was the 'bees knees' with his winkle picket shoes, tight trousers, collarless jacket and a 'DA haircut'!!! It made a great impression on his future Father-in-Law!!!!!
At this time he was a keen table-tennis player, winning many trophies and he also enjoyed playing snooker with his friend Tony.
David and Jo were married 16th September 1967 at Marton Church and set up home in Balfour Street. Their son David Jonathan, was born on Halloween 1970. A very proud day.
After living in various places in Gainsborough, David and Jo moved to Louth to be nearer to their Son and Daughter-in-Law. Tragically, the worst day of his life came a year later with the sudden death of his only son.

David and Jo enjoyed many walking holidays in the Yorkshire Dales with family and friends. A particular favourite area of theirs was Swaledale, staying in a beautiful cottage in Reeth with Amanda.

David was in his element watching and enjoying the quiz shows, in particular, Mastermind,, Countdown and Eggheads'. He also spent many hours on the computer, researching the family trees on both sides of the family.
Many cats may have come and gone throughout their married life, leaving happy memories of them all to share. He would have found amusement in the fact that poor Molly is in fact now called Ollie after a recent visit to the vets!

One of David's last happy days was on 9th May, Jo's birthday and despite being ill, he made a great effort and spent the day with her, Amanda and Mark, visiting 'WoodsideWildlife Park, near Lincoln.

Sadly the last few months he became very, very ill and deteriorated quite quickly and tragically passed away28th July in Grimsby Hospital.

He will be greatly missed and remembered as a lovely, kind, gentle man.

Dear David... I just wanted to thank you for making me feel so welcome the first time we met. It must have been an odd moment for you in some ways but you made me feel relaxed the moment I said hello... We went on to share many interesting conversations on so many topical subjects and I am going to miss them and you greatly. Some people leave a glowing echo in our souls and you are one of those people. We never did manage that game of chess did we... but I will keep some very fond memories of you with me always. Thank you so much. Mark Cooling.

Spent many happy days with Dave (or Ronnie Corbett as I'd refer to him in later years) , Jo and Little David on trips out in the red mini. You will be greatly missed.
