In loving memory of David Harry Dickson who sadly passed away on 31st July 2016

David was borne in Hull which was his fathers home town. He had an elder brother called Ian who died
in 2009. His father was an officer in REME and much of his early life was following his fathers various postings. At the begining of the 1970's Harry was posted to the REME depot at Old Dalby and the family finaly settled.David's Mother died shortly after. I met Harry when I was posted as relief Sister at the surgery there and we married in 1976.

David has had a very full and mostly happy life. He was a superb swimmer and competed in the special olympics in Madras India, gaining two gold and one silver medal. Following that sucess he also competed in the special Olympics in Leicester and Sheffield.

Once he retired from competitive swimming he took up many other sports. Tetsudo, gaining a yellow belt, bowls and ten pin bowling. Football, photography, horseback riding to name a few.

He has lived in the comunity with support since 2004 and in 2012 after a bad experience with his support staff he moved into his own house supported by a team of carers supplied by Melton Mencap.
This was the happiest time of his life. Supported loved and cared for he blossomed and returned to the happy loving David we all knew.

One thing you all think I have missed is his lifelong support of his beloved Chelsea football club. "since he was a little boy" If it was blue and had the Chelsea logo on it David was a happy man.He even travelled to Stamford Bridge on two ocasions to visit the grounds. He was some what dissapointed that the team wer'nt
there to greet him

He had a lovley sence of humour provided he was doing the teasing. His smile could light up a room and he returned love ten fold.

Thats a little snapshot of David's life. Much loved and sorely missed.

More cuddles at breakfast club. David loved seeing Lola and it was always the first thing that he asked me about when I saw him. ?

I have fond memories of David and Ian when they attended Eagle Ceramics and remember both the laughter and the time taken to get 'it' right. David will always be remembered for his beaming smile. Saddened to hear that both of them have left us.
