In loving memory of Bob Woodrow who passed away peacefully on 25th July 2016.

Bob was born in Canada House Maternity home, Gillingham on 3rd Feb 1933 and remained in Gillingham for all of his life, with the last eight years spent in Macklands House in Rainham. Bob had 4 younger siblings - 2 brothers Peter and John, and two sisters, Sheila and Joan. He went to Forge Lane Primary School at the age of 5, moving to Gillingham Grammar School at the age of 11

On leaving school, Bob spent a short time working in Rochester before doing his National Service, spending 3 years in the RAF. Quite a lot of this service was spent in Changi, Singapore, which Bob visited in later years; though much had changed.

On leaving the RAF, Bob worked in London for some years before joining the Prudential as a Pensions Consultant, and then finally Clarksons in Canterbury, where he remained until he took redundancy in December 1991.

Bob married Brenda Thorp in June 1960, and they were soon blessed with two daughters-Jo in 1962 and Jac in 1965. Later came Grandchildren, Lauren and Adam, and to his great delight a Great Grandson, Hayden, born in January 2016.

Bob joined Gillingham Lions Club in 1990, and this was to be a major factor in his life from then on. He dedicated his life to working tirelessly for other people, and was awarded a very rare "International Fellowship" award by the Lions Club to reflect this dedication and commitment. This came as a surprise as he never expected any rewards, or indeed felt that his work on behalf of those less fortunate warranted any awards.

Bob was a keen sportsman and loved sport of all kinds. He played football and cricket until he became too old to participate, at which point he became a keen spectator, both at Gillingham FC to support the Gills, and at Canterbury to support Kent County Cricket Club. He loved cricket, and he and Brenda spent many happy hours supporting Kent.

Family flowers only may be sent c/o John Weir Funeral Directors, 130-132 High Street, Rainham, Kent, ME8 8AR, Telephone No: 01634 373111, by 8.30 am on Wednesday 10th August. If desired donations may be made in memory of Bob for Challenging Behaviour Foundation also sent c/o John Weir Funeral Directors.
