I worked with Roger for a number of years in Haringey and it was a pleasure to be in his company. He was always charming and had a very nice 'chirpy' manner about him, which made you feel very comfortable. We shared quite a few laughs, especially when we were at the pub sharing a drink.I also played a few games of cricket with him and can definitely recall what an accomplished batsman he was, with natural flair.
I'm so sorry to hear of his passing and the world will be a duller place in his absence. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.R.I.P. Roger.

A more genuine, likeable, and down to earth person cannot be found. Very sadden to hear that he (Roger) is physically no longer us. However, glad to know that those physical and inevitable psychological pains no longer plague him. Rest In Peace old friend - Miss You Lots

Roger, also known as "The Netto" was a great boss, approachable, easy going, honest. We had great banter between us, always laughing.
Wishing the family and friends peace and strength during this difficult time.
God rest his soul.

Roger was one of the most kind and generous people I had the pleasure to know. He had a great sense of humour as well as being erudite and articulate, and would always display great enthusiasm for anything he was involved with.

I will remember with great fondness the many good times we shared, from the Anglo-Indian nights, to the numerous evenings out in Rugby, and of course the lads' Christmas trips (one in particular!).

Rest in peace Roger.

Roger was a brilliant person to know and work with. Many a happy years spent with Roger at Highgate magistrates waiting for the summons list to go through and to be quizzed by the magistrate.
Always smiling and full of jokes. He will be sadly missed.

Roger was one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. I worked with him at Islington Council and for the best part of 7 years occupied a desk either opposite or adjacent to his. We often went for a few beers and a curry after work and sometimes, if it was more than a few, Roger let me crash at his bedsit because I had missed the last train. His colleagues thought he bore a striking resemblance to a certain singer so he became known as "The Indian Cliff Richard". We worked in the Rates Office and Al Neville organised an annual "Mr Rates" competition (there was a Miss Rates too). As a measure of his popularity Roger won this, I believe on more than one occasion. He will be sadly missed and certainly not forgotten.

  • Trevor's comment is spot on, there's little to add other than to say that Roger was a character.

Uncle Rand,
The memories that you have given me from my younger days with your brilliant sense of humour are priceless. I do hope the biriyani, beer and wine are plentiful wherever you are. I wish things could have been different.
You are in my every thought and prayer.

Sad to hear of Roger's passing (he was always Roger to us). I worked with him at Islington Council in the 70s and 80s and we had some great times. Roger came to one of our reunion drinks a few years ago and was still the same, cracking jokes and laughing. I will raise a glass to him on Friday.

We only got to know Randolph about five years ago, but in that time my family and I got to know him pretty well.

We'd often have the most silliest conversations, talking politics, tv schedules, takeaways, rubbish cars, how he'd amused all the nurses at the hospital, the candidates in the apprentice and of course football.

He was poorly when we first met him but he remained positive and optimistic right up until near the end. Everyone who has known him for years that has, and will write on here will no doubt recall many happy memories of him... He told us about a lot of them. So, I can only imagine what a good laugh and incredibly decent bloke he must of been before he moved to Rugby. Obviously he continued to be all those things, and spoke about each and every one of his family regularly.. He was so proud of you all.

So, I don't have any stories as such but what I can tell you is, he used to light up our day with his opinions and wit and we are going to miss him so very much.

We felt very privileged to of had you in our lives

So, as it was always my parting statement to you, I say it one more time

Up d Ammers

Farewell my friend.... Behave yourself up there.

To all of our family

We have lost a truly wonderful brother and uncle.

I will cherish and remember him always for our in depth educational and political debates, being so funny, kind, intellectual, thoughtful and remaining so positive, brave and strong.

I hope this poem gives words of comfort to all at this very sad time.

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see;
The sun will rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me.
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And led me by the hand.

She said my place was ready,
In Heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart.
For every time you think of me,
I'm right there, in your heart.

Rest in peace Uncle Rand. You are my inspiration and the brightest star in my sky.

Fleurette xx
