It has been loving and very touching reading all of the messages on this page.

I walked into the doors of the 23rd at the age of 12 years old, and was involved with Scouting for 15 years after until I got married.

The amazing aspect of Ron was that he was always involved directly with regular meetings, whether it was Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or Ventures.

All our love to the whole family

A lovely gent who will be missed by so many. My condolences to Yvonne, Richard and Paul. He had a special place in my life. I shall remember him pottering about whichever campsite. Always cheerful and impeccably dressed. The world has lost a very special man but I hope you continue to potter wherever you are Ron. RIP xxx

So sad to hear Ron has passed away. He did so much for others and my family are grateful for his dedication to the 23rd Croydon. We have very happy memories of times at the Den and at camps. Rest in peace Ron. Thoughts are with his family. (I'm sorry that I can't make Ron's funeral as would have liked to pay my respects - have made a small donation to the charities in his memory.)

Ron, it was in the mid 60's when I first met you. At the time you had taken on the mantle of quartermaster of the 23rd's equipment, which we had to store in a loft on the old sewage farm due to the fact that the Den had burnt down one bonfire night. You helped in getting the camping gear out and nothing was too much trouble for you. I am honoured to say since that day we remained firm friends. We have lost a true Scout and Friend and I will cherish the great memories.
My thoughts are with Yvonne, Richard, Paul and Family.
God Bless You Ron.

I have great memories of growing up in South Norwood. Such great friends and the best of times. And Scouting with the 1st South Norwood, 23rd Croydon at the 'Den' was an absolute highlight and central to it all. Even when our family moved to Carshalton, I would still travel over and attend every Scout meeting. It played a massive role in my development from a young boy into adulthood. The leaders were our role models, best friends and parents at times!
Ron was such a big part my childhood and always gave unselfishly to all of us. For that I am eternally grateful.
Sending happy thoughts to Yvonne, Richard & Paul and the whole family.
Ron, you will be truly missed.
All my love, Jason xx
