I knew Mervyn for only a few years via the Air Cadet Squadron in Tamworth. A perfect gentleman and a most genial host when I met him in his local hostelries! He will be missed by many.

We were neighbours of Mervyn's parents and used to enjoy his flights over the family home. Although we did not know him very well, he was always friendly and came across as a super guy. He came back to Oughtibridge, often on Gala day and was always welcome. It is a tragedy that we have lost him.

Merv, the hotloks are on their way and your Endex Doughnut will be waiting for you.

Forever rest in peace and I'll meet you in the bar at some time in the future. Remember too, the senior ranks always pay for the juniors.

Master give your servant, his discharge in peace.

Rest in peace Merv, safe in the arms of the Lord.

Mervyn,
Many people walk in and out of our lives, but only true friends leave footprints in our hearts.
I feel so proud to have known you; you were a true Officer and a Gentleman. Goodnight Treasure, God bless. ET xx
