In loving memory of Simon Timothy Halstead, an adored father, husband, brother and friend to many. He sadly passed away at home on 1.7.2016.

A hard working man who was loved by many including the legendary 3 legged charlie ?? who will along with many miss him eternally. Another of his lifelong loves that lives on through me was his love of all things sport, which i hope will be represented on this his last celebration, the celebration of his life.

My dad was never one for formality so please join us in creating a sea of colour with a wide veriety of sports/football shirts...on the other hand if formal wear is your thing maybe jazz it up with a colourful tie or hat?

None of us are huge fans of flowers so in response we have set up a link on this site, to make a small donation to a charity we both supported which is Sue Ryder.

Lastly there is also a link where we are encouraging as many people as possible to leave a message, add a photo or simply share a memory...

This has been the hardest week of our lives please join us in making this coming Friday a day we will never forget!

Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible xXxXx

My husband Craig & I , together with our twin daughters Holly & Emily first met Simon 6 years ago at Morgan Jones Park. A friendship grew, and we spent many mornings walking our dogs, our Whippet Ruby & Charlie, chatting about life, love & the universe. Sadly we lost touch about 18 months ago as we both moved to new parts of town, so our paths no longer crossed. We spoke of him often, hoping life was going well & wondering if we'd bump into him in Morrison's, or around town. Sadly, today I found out he'd passed away. I asked a cashier in Morrison's if Simon still worked there as we hadn't seen him in so long, and heard the sad news. Huge sympathy to Sammy, Adam, and of course Charlie. We will miss him. He was honest, funny, very sensitive and real. He was also a Bristolian, like me, so we bonded over our foreign status☺. RIP Simon, we will miss you & your friendship xxxx

  • So sad that we missed the opportunity to celebrate your life on 15th July, but we will always remember you whenever we walk the dog at Morgan Jones Park, & whenever I'm in Cotham, Bristol! So sad for us that we won't see you around town again. You were a special human, and we are going to miss you. See you on the other side fella. Lots of love xx

Absolutely shocked and gutted to hear one of the good ones taken from us.

I've been friends with Adam for many years now, and met Simon on numerous occasions. But the last few years me and Adam have become a lot closer, and I was fortunate enough to get to know Simon a lot better.
I would call round, he'd invite me in, and we would chat for ages in the hallway. He always asked how business was, and took a genuine interest, even when I waffled on. He was always very welcoming, and always offered me a plate of some amazing concoction he had rustled up!
He had a brilliant sense of humour, and without fail would crack a joke about something that was going on in the world that week.. Politics, sport, whatever.. He always made me laugh!!

Simon, you were a great guy, with a wicked sense of humour and a true gent! you'll be sorely missed by many!!

Rest in peace mate XXX

I am so sorry to hear the news of Simon's passing. When I think of Simon, I cannot think of a time when he wasn't expressing his pride in Adam, Sammy or Charlie! He was a genuinely nice guy who made us all feel welcome when we visited - I'll always remember talking about Bahrain and religion with you. RIP

A good, kind and generous man, I was absolutely shocked to hear that Simon had passed away.

I was fortunate enough to spend many evenings at the Halstead residence over the years, probably more than my fair share, but I was never made to feel anything but completely welcome by Simon, Lorraine, Adam, and Sammy. It's a testament to Simon and the whole family that their house became almost a second home to so many of us growing up.

I could never pay back everything that he did for me over the years, and he would never have asked for anything in return anyway, but I can say thank you and rest in peace Simon. You'll be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know you

My thoughts and love go out to all at this terribly sad time. Simon I only met you a handful of times but you were such a lovely man, so easy to talk to and mostly we spoke of Charlie and our shared love of dogs. The night you joined us to celebrate Adam moving into his house we sat on the living room floor with nothing but blankets and pillows but you didn't mind joining us all on the floor at all and you sat fussing my Merv as we once again chatted about the famous Charlie. That night I saw you glow with pride as your boy grew into a man, it was beautiful to see just how happy you were for him. Your love for Sammy, Adam, Lorraine and Charlie was clear and will never be forgotten. Was a pleasure to have met you, rest in peace Simon x

Such terrible news about such a nice guy. After Simon and family moved in to pentwyn isaf 16 years ago it didn't take long for me and Adam to become friends. Seeing Simon pretty much daily was always great fun and full of laughter. Simon, Adam and I would spend most Sunday afternoons playing pool in the white Cross, I was garbage but Adam and Simon always had a fiery rivalry. As me and Adam hit our teenage years obviously finding beer and cider and the famous conservatory I became great friends with Simon. Even though he would have to put up with a lot of crap, like the time I stole his dog. Luckily he forgave me. Rip Simon.

My darling brother Simon
Though we had our ups and downs as all siblings do I always knew that you were there for me and I for you.
We grew up in a very long familiy with wonderful loving parents , sadly taken from us at such young ages.
My kids always remember you for your humour and lots of laughter, Tasha remembers you fondly for welcoming her into our family.
You were a good loving husband and ypur life was devoted to both Adam and Sammy.
They can be very proud of them and they of you.
Don't worry, Lorraine and I will always be there for them.
Take care bro, I know you will be looking down on all of us, till we meet again, your ever loving brother, Kevin
