In loving memory of Sylvia Morgan who sadly passed away on 30th June 2016.
Mum was born in Leeds in 1946 to Charles and Hilda Shepherd and had two brothers Steve and Charles (Chuck)Mum attended school but left at 15 as most girls did then, although would have loved to have had the opportunity to stay on at her grammar school in Blackpool having the family moved from Leeds to Manchester and then Blackpool as Nan and Grandad ran guest and Public Houses.
Mum moved to Coventry in 1967 having visited on a school trip.......met my dad the same year and married in August had me a year later then hurriedly had my brother Darren in 1968......bit of a gap then along came Jason in 1973.
Mum was a dinner lady for a few years at St Marys primary near gosford park and then started work at the Lanchester Polytechnic as a catering assistant then ran the bar and cafe at the students union, she also worked emptying vending machines across the city centre which she loved and ended her career in the cash offices at Coventry university taking early retirement before she was 60 having worked at the university and Coventry City Council for around 30 years.
Mum met Pete playing dominoes for the charter house pub and along came Victoria who sadly died at 6 weeks old, they were married in 1985 and David was born to mum and Pete's delight in 1987. Mum became a Nan in 1987 and now has 9 grandchildren.
Mum and Pete have had a super marriage of over 30 years....some sad times having lost their daughter but mostly very happy and I know how much my Mum loved Pete and I know the feelings are reciprocated.
Mum battled breast cancer 9 years ago and won and we hoped it wouldn't return but in February this year the dreaded disease returned with vengeance. Mum fought really hard and wouldn't allow herself to give in, even managed to vote on the 23rd June a week before we lost her. Sylvia was a tough lady but would do anything for her family and did. I hope if you're reading this and loved spending time with Sylv, Sylvia or Syl you will join us to say goodbye at the service on 18th July at Canley crematorium and after at Sphinx Club Coventry.
