In loving memory of Ruth Johnson who sadly passed away on 21st June 2016.
Ruth was my only sister and she was without a doubt the funniest, talented and most intelligent person I have ever met.
I don't think there is any need for me to write a long list of all that she achieved in her short life but both my mum and I were incredibly proud of her and will miss her terribly.
My mum and I witnessed first hand the pain and suffering that Ruth endured with her health which started with her thyroid problems which is why we would ask that if you want to make a donation in her memory it is to The British Thyroid Foundation, who support those with thyroid conditions and fund research which may help to prevent others suffering in the way Ruth did. You can donate online via their website (http://www.btf-thyroid.org/) which also gives information about their work. If you prefer not to donate on line you will be able to make a donation at the service.
So it's over to you, her friends and colleagues to share your memories of Ruth and even upload photos of my wonderful lovely sister. Que por fin descanse en paz. xxx

I worked alongside Ruth for a few years; she was a talented, sweet and funny lady, and is sorely missed...and responsible for introducing me to mojitos in Madrid :) Ben x

Ruth's contagious laughter will always be remembered. Great memories of afternoons or evenings talking, listening to music, sharing a glass or two of wine and food or lunchtimes at the Algarve restaurant with the members of the Portuguese class. A great loss.

Ruth showed me the ropes in my first Proper Job. I remember when we stopped for a pint on the way home from work and then she suggested a second one and I knew we were friends, not just colleagues. We passed the time at work looking up outrageous insults in the foreign language dictionaries and with her telling stories from her past, which must have been horrible at the time but she managed to make sound hilarious (falling onto a barbecue...being mistakenly carted off to the children's hospital because she was short...) It got to the point that I would re-tell her stories to my friends who didn't even know her, rather than anything from my own boring life - she made hers sound so funny.

She also pretty much showed me how to work the internet (this was a long time ago...'lo Bob), introduced me to strange South American singers and gave me the dubious pleasure of house-and-cat-sitting while she was away, such that I would wake up to find Minnie inches from my face, no doubt preparing to lick my eyes. Those were a difficult few years for me but whenever I think of Ruth I only remember laughing.

When I was moving away and was too ill to do much for myself, it was Ruth who came round to help my parents pack up my flat. She was brilliant - I can't believe she's not here any more, but what a thing to be remembered with such joy. xxx
