Been thinking about you a lot over the last few weeks and it's still so strange that we can't just pop over and see you or bump into you! Wish I could tell you all of the funny stories from mums birthday weekend but I'm sure you were cracking up watching! Missing you, forever in our hearts ❤️

We first met Tony through junior Sunday football , when our boys Ollie and Ryan played for the same team. Our friendship was immediate and grew stronger and stronger the more we saw of each other.
Listening to Tony's latest joke or humorous story could brighten up any day even while standing in a muddy, wind swept field, as we often were whilst cheering on the team.
I was talking to a friend recently and we were recalling our memories of Tony. He said to me that if you were going to a dinner party and you were told you were going to be seated next to Tony Broughton, you would punch the air with delight , knowing this is going to be a great evening.
And that just about summed Tony up , you always knew you would have a good time when you were with Tony
Funny, generous, kind hearted and a truly great friend, we will miss you Tony!

Tony and I met when we were almost young, in the time of Julio Inglesais and Lionel Ritchie, and both had hair cuts to suit. He instantly appealed to me with his wit, sharpness of mind, experiences as a police officer and unrivaled charisma.

We developed a close friendship and working relationship. I was often bemused by his ability to compete with and impress scientists and others at large chemical companies, given his absence of a formal training.

However, I felt that his private life was unfulfilled. He needed a family, a wife and children to channel his energies. Jackie, Ollie and Tish gave him that which he needed most and they became the rock upon which he built his life.

Tony, the man, was humerous, full of optimism, and driven by a desire to support others. In the final years I saw him from time to time. He firstly wanted to know about others and would then explain about himself, the prognosis, and his desire to win the battle. This was the hallmark of Tony Broughton; to make every effort, pursue every opportunity and show kindness and generosity to others. We can all learn so much from him. I am proud and privileged to have had Tony as a close friend. (John Stevenson)

I am sure we have all heard his stories of his life, made more entertaining by his unique gestures and voice mimicry
He told me his dad referred to him as ‘BOY’
One story that made me wince was of his pet tortoise Tommy, and how the young Tony discovered poor Tommy had died during his hibernation, and how when reaching up to lift him down from the top shelf in the ‘out house’...well you can fill in the rest for yourself
Then stories about his teenage years trying to ‘pull the birds’ on his Brough Superior motorbike that he was so proud of
Some of his most entertaining stories were about the time in the Police, from the humble Bobby on the beat, through to his long haired – Afgan coat wearing ‘Serpico’ phase of his life
Although the stories I was the most envious of was Tony owning a chain of Off licence’s called Robin Hood....(who wouldn’t want to own a chain of off licences !) he was so proud of the fact he bought his first brand new car...with cash...
Then he told stories of his jet set lifestyle in his chemical career, from boom to bust, but Tony being Tony, it didn’t take him long to bounce back
I don’t know about you, but I wish he had written that book....I would have bought one
I met Tony over ten years ago when on a trip to Dubai, and over the years we had a lot of fun
Five years ago tony asked me to babysit his business whilst he was undergoing his initial treatment, and on his desk was photographs of his family.
He is the only bloke I know who has pictures of his kids on his desk...I just had to wait until I got home and there they were, so I didn’t feel the need, but Tony wanted them around him always
I had to guess his computer login, but it was so easy...Tish Tash...
When Tony and I went out for the required beers, he always ended up singing on stage with the band and being centre of attention, he loved people and they loved him, always a memorable night out
Tony boarded the rollercoaster ride that is that shitty disease, cancer, to ride the very dark and painful lows, but to come back to experience the relative highs ( or good days) by his pure fight and determination
I am sure lots of people have ridden that Roller coaster along with Tony and the family, seeing the ups and downs, and experiencing the force that is..... Tony Broughton
You shouldn’t judge a man by how cool his car is...or how great his house is, but by how many people love him.
I know by the people that love him....that the ‘BOY’ did good...

Tony, we shared your big day with your beautiful family & some of your special friends, what a sent off......it was so beautiful, so much love around us all. Every detail with perfect hymens, prays & music, beautiful flowers, funny memories of your life, happy & sad times. Jackie, Tish, Ollie did amazingly well....you must be so proud of them all, as we are!!!!Oh & cooper, he put a big smile on everyone's face! Glorious sunshine finishing off a sad but beautiful day! It was a difficult but strangely nice day today, saying goodbye to you but seeing how many people's lives you impacted as well. Hearing and remembering lots of special and funny times with you. I'm sure you're so proud of how well Jackie, Tish, Ollie and Cooper did today, like we all are. You were one in a million and will be remembered forever. Love and miss you always xx sleep tight xx

Tony, you are one of our best friends ever. We remember all the fun times and the memories we have had. Especially Ryan's 1st birthday when you came as a surprise dressed as a teddy bear on the hottest day of the year and instead of making him laugh, you made him cry! But that was just you Tony always full of fun, happiness and laughter. You will always be in our hearts and we will look after Jackie, Tish, Ollie and Cooper until we meet again at Heavens gate. Just make sure you don't have a fishermans friend in your pocket!! Love forever and always
