In loving memory of the late John Anthony Durkin who peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday 24th June, with his wife Fiona, and children Natasha and Patrick, by his side; an inspirational and adored husband and father, brother-in-law to Johnny, father-in-law to Grant and Justine. To his grandchildren, Luca, Friia, Storme and Scarlet he was their beloved Daddy John. He will be greatly missed by us and all his many friends. The celebration of his extraordinary life and journey will start on Monday 30th June when John is received into The Sacred Heart Lauriston at 5.15pm and on Tuesday 1st July there will be a requiem mass at 12.30pm followed by committal at Mount Vernon Cemetery at 2pm.
Please do not wear black to either service at John’s own request. Requiescat in pace.

Ah , John
I was saddened to read you had passed away .
The world will have one less less ray of sunshine shining down on us . You were a unique , wonderful , kind , caring teacher to so many children . When you joined Duddingston Primary School in the early 1960,s you were adored by the entire school. We were the lucky ones to be in your class until we left for High School. Every one benefited hugely from the special time we had with you . So much fun and the ever watchful eye on us at Portobello outdoor Pool keeping all safe as we had “ fun in the sun” during the summer holidays .
Thank you for all you did for me and so so many others.
Alan Webb

Fiona,
John was a dear friend of many years; a wonderful, funny friend of whom I have lovely memories. I always enjoyed seeing John when I was home on vacation. I know he is missed by you & his many friends…
