Sital was born in Punjab, India. She lost her mother at age three and was raised by her maternal grandparents.

In June 1945, she married Mohinder Jit Singh Dhaliwal. They moved to the UK in 1966 and continued to raise their family here.

Sital was a mother to five daughters, a grandmother to six grandsons and one granddaughter, and a great grandmother to five great grandsons and two great grand daughters.

Her family life was filled with sharing food, a love of gardening, knitting, sewing and the joy of young voices. A deeply devoted baptized Sikh, she had strong links with the local community.

She will be missed by her daughters, Kuldish, Kuldip, Hardish, Hardip and Baljinder; her sons-in-law, Jinder, William and Alan, her grandchildren Danny & Mandeep, Bobby & Pia, Rajen & Amy, Kalvin & Helen, Amrit, Cassandra, Simran and Jeevan; and great-grandchildren, Karum, Ameera, Keira, Zachery, Jai, Theo and Benjamin.
