In loving memory of John Raeside who sadly passed away on 29th April 2016 after a brave and courageous battle. He passed away peacefully at St Margaret's Hospice in Clydebank and still retained his sense of humour until the end.
Many, many thanks to all the staff at the Hospice for their care and compassion which was beyond our expectations.

It is with a very heavy heart that I am preparing to say goodbye to my boss of almost 45 years. Johnny wasn't just my boss he was and will remain a very trusted friend with whom I developed a close working relationship and enjoyed more than a few "working lunches" along the way. We laughed cried and yes even argued but we had a mutual respect for each other and always managed to come out the other side.usually because he recognised that even when a woman is wrong she is always right! During my last visit Johnny invited me for lunch and wine on the next occasion at the hospice restaurant as he would have had his chair by then but alas it wasn't to be. I will forever be grateful to Johnny for his wisdom determination and courage and so proud to have had him as my boss and dear friend. He will be with me forever. Sleep tight dear friend. You are going to be so sadly missed X

I've known JR for 45 years and he never changed, always that same cheeky chappie and a fantastic guy to be with. A true friend who was always there if needed for any help or advice. I saw him at the hospice when I delivered a litre bottle of "medicine" and said, see you next week, but it wasn't to be. So sad. Gill, our thoughts are now with you and we're all here to help you through these difficult times. Bye Tommy. Richard

Deeply saddened to hear the passing of John Raeside, my dearest friend.
He's taken care of me and my family for the past 30 years. Whenever I needed him, he was always there for me and helped eased my troubles.
He was always cheerful with a great sense of humour.
He was the greatest Scot I've ever met.
The most honourable man, Simply the Best.

So sad to read your news, Gillian. Clear and happy memories of those couple of days in Cyprus with you and Johnny - 15 years ago almost. I will never forget Johnny's kindness and consideration which he showed towards me. Stay strong. Thoughts will be with you on the 10th and beyond. Yours, Jonah.
