Susan was Christened Susan Marjorie Paul. She was born on 13 July 1948 at Kinsley Common farm, Kinsley, Hemsworth near Wakefield, South Yorks. She was the youngest of seven children, mum and dad were Victor and Ivy Paul.
Susan was born with learning disability and it wasn't until the age of 4 did she make noises. Otherwise she was fit and well. Susan was loved from the outset helped and supported by the whole family.
Later the family would move to several farms over a number of years. Susan was never any trouble as she learnt to love her family. In later years Susan had the habit of saying " I've got five brothers, over and over again". Five because the eldest brother David died in 1957.
