Reading these loving messages from Dot's friends have brought back many wonderful memories of her during the years when Naomi and Maria were young and lived near us in Denver. So many chats over coffee & tea, always learning from Dot about life, family, gardening, cooking, baking, children (not 'kids', those are goats) and style. She rescued me once by smocking a blouse I'd sewn for my daughter that was way too wide & turned it into a thing of beauty. She liked & laughed about the home frosting job I gave her even though it bleached most of her hair. One day she decided that Dave and Bob could build a picnic table like one we'd admired at a garden center; and we have that table still! Birthday parties were incredibly fun and creative with her gorgeous cakes, the costumes and games! Ever the teacher, she held fun classes for the children during summer vacation (which was too long for her liking in Colorado, ha!) Dot was one of a kind and will be missed by so many. Love to Dave, Naomi, Maria and families, we are thinking of you at this sad time. Sue & Bob

I have very fond memories of Dot from Colorado when the Walters and Clifts often had dinner together in Denver. We sometimes went picnicking in the mountains as well. She was such a kind person. So sorry for your loss. Love,

Dot,
You were always so kind to me buying extra biscuits for me, and putting up with my terrible language. I called you my other Mum, seems that's how many others viewed you kind, caring and non judgmental. I will always remember you and those memories make me smile. Lots of Love Genna (PS. Sorry for all the swearing)

Dot always put others first and always had time for a chat - even sometimes through a garden fence. I am one of the neighbours who would see the back garden light on at all times and also if I got up during the night very often saw the dining room light on with Dot sitting at the table working. I also remember (with a laugh) the morning she was walking around the street because I thought the cat had gone missing but it wasn't the cat it was the ferret. We could all learn a lesson from Dot and how she led her life. She will be greatly missed.

Dot you were a truly lovely lady. You had such a love for animals and I loved hearing your animal rescue stories. I learnt so much from watching you teach and working with you, you believed in every child and helped them achieve their potential.
You will be missed by many.
Lots of love

There are so many words to describe Dot, she was one of a kind. The loveliest, kindest and most caring person I know. Dot always had time for people, even when she was busy it wasn't an issue, others always came first. A very rare but amazing quality, she was a special lady. Dot was always full of stories, the ones about the pet duck and the ferrets in the washing machine were my favourite, she really was Mother Nature. I am so thankful that I knew Dot and that I got to call her my friend.

Love you lots Dot,
Xxx

Such a sad loss.
Dot, I owe my survival of my first year of teaching to you. A mentor, inspiration and friend, you helped me so much guiding me through the start of my career and time at Rounds Green. The school and more importantly the children loved you and truly respected you as a teacher and the wonderful person that you were.
Rest in peace and sweet dreams
Love always
Heather x
