In loving memory of Trudy Thompson, who sadly passed away on 9th April 2016.

The wife to Mick, Trudy was a force to be reckoned with in all aspects of her life. Strong, incredibly witty and a big bloody flirt, she shone wherever she was. Through thick and thin Mick and Trudy were united as a couple, raising three successful children, keeping a lovely home and running their own business along the way. Forty eight years later, Mick is devastated to say goodbye to his dear companion.

Darling, Mother, Mama: each of her children had a different term of affection for her but we all feel the same about her - a formidable force in our lives, a stickler for good behaviour but such a loving and affectionate person. She was the centre of our family, the little one in her gang of 'gladiators' as she called us, the one who's teachings stay with us in our daily behaviour.

Please leave your memories here for all to see and enjoy - and don't leave out the cheeky bits, that was Trudy through and through.

Trudy's funeral will take place on Wednesday 27th April, 1.30pm at the Peterborough crematorium. A celebration of Trudy's life will follow, please be ready to have a drink or two in her honour.

Just a short note to say how sorry I was to see the passing of Trudy, I worked with her and Rondy at Millfield Branch of Peterborough Building Society on many Saturday mornings as well as seeing her at the P.B.S. reunions and Trudy was always a joy to be with through her humour and joyful disposition. Sorry I can't get to funeral as attending a relatives at the same time.

We had a good old natter not too long ago, catching up on old times when Ad first moved in to his place. So sorry to hear of Trudy's passing, and we'll be there to support the family on 27th to give her a good send off.

RIP Trudy.

Trudy - an amazing woman who our family are honoured to call our friend. She has been in our lives for as long as I can remember; I use the present tense as, knowing Trudy, she's keeping an eye on us all.

I remember Trudy's lovely Dad, Norman, chatting to my Dad one day about their families and saying "Diane is the lady of the house, Claire is my baby and always will be, and Trudy is the straight talking fighter. Never trust Trudy when she has a pencil in her hand; her aim is spot on!" I saw Trudy's fighting spirit once when Dad and I stopped to talk to her in the street and a man said a rude comment about Dad's race. The blur that shot by me was Trudy, guns and eyes blaring, teeth gnashing, as she demanded he apologise if he knew what was good for him! That was the first time I understood what Norman meant; she may not have been holding a pencil but that man was quaking in his boots!

Trudy was loyal and trustworthy and expected no less from anyone else. I was honoured to be able o repay that trust and loyalty when she asked if I would babysit for her first born, Adam. I went on to care for Matthew and Amy, and consider them "mine". If the need ever arose I would protect those wonderful children....with or without a pencil!

Mick was adored by Trudy. He's her true love. Another memory I'd like to share is the Christmas Day when Trudy & Mick brought baby Adam to meet my parents. Claire and Ian joined them with baby Emma. After Mum had shed a few tears as she wished their mother was alive to hold the babies, Dad offered Mick and Ian a tot of ovenproof Jamaican rum. They both gasped as it slid down their throats and returned home very quiet. The next day Trudy rang to speak to Dad; to thank him for providing her and Claire with the quietest of Christmas Days as Mick and Ian slept off the effects of one tiny tot of Appletons white rum!

Rest easy Trudy. You leave such wonderful memories that we will carry with us. I sign off with a warning to St. Peter - watch out for that pencil!

Love from Lloyd, Bob and Norma xxx

Trudy always welcomed me to her house as if I was one of her own which ment I was always well fed, always given a place to sleep after a night out and always told to sort my hair out! She certainly was a wonderful mamma. She may have gone but will not be forgotten. I look forward to raising a glass or 3 to her on 27th. X

Trudy, my beautiful strong funny big sister, you was a class act to follow, but I think you taught me well, in the early years teaching me right from wrong, keeping me on the right track through my teenage years we shared so much together lots of laughter and yes plenty of tears. You will never know how much I'm going to miss you, sleep tight until we meet again I love you ❤️

Great words.I always admired my Aunty Trudy for her honesty and never failing to 'say it the way it is' (a voice of reason) in all the bedlam of our large family.
A great laugh(can hear it now).
My thoughts are with Uncle Mick,Adam,Amy and Matt at this sad sad time.

See you all on the 27th and join Katey in raising a glass.

Have alot of memories of Trudy from growing up. Was always round the house playing Barbies and having sleep overs. Will always remember the food taste testing Trudy used to do for me and Amy. We had to close our eyes and taste different foods. Even mustard, yuck!! Was always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. RIP Trudy xx
