In loving memory of Liam Andrew Rose who sadly passed away on 29th March 2016

Liam Andrew Rose, born on 13th April 1994. Beloved son of Andy and Kathy, brother to Martin, Amy and Abbey. Liam attended Flintham Primary School followed by Toot Hill Comprehensive then onto NCN Nottingham for A-Levels. Growing up he was a talented swimmer, achieving Nottinghamshire Age Group County Champion status at the age of 14 yrs, training with Nova Centurion. He had a passion for music and was forever singing. Liam sampled various jobs before settling on a career in the fashion retail industry where he quickly made his mark, becoming department manager for H&M. He was a fun loving, humorous guy who just wanted to be happy and for others to be happy too. His passing was too soon, he had so much more to give. He will be missed by too many to name, but will be forever with us in our hearts and never forgotten.

Liam's funeral and a celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday 13th April, which would have been his 22nd birthday, at Wilford Hill Cemetery. The service will begin promptly at 9:20am, so please allow yourselves plenty of time to arrive as we cannot delay the service - doors will be open at 9am. This will be a short service of around 30 minutes. This will be followed by a lunchtime wake at the nearby Riverbank Bar, which is located on Trent Bridge.

Please add your name to the attendance list below so we have a rough idea of numbers. Everyone is welcome whether they were in touch with Liam recently or not.

Dress Code: There isn't one! Please don’t feel obliged to dress formally - we'd love to see some bright colours too. (Liam would turn up in a onesie...) The most important thing for us is that you are there.

There will also be a chance for everyone to write a short personal message to Liam - if they would like to do so, or simply to sign their name so please have an idea in mind as we only have a short time to do this at the end of the service.

A light buffet will be provided at Riverbank after the service, and there's a bar area too. This is for everyone of course so please come along if you can make it. It will be available from around 11am.

Flowers & Donations

If you feel you'd like to bring flowers you are very welcome to do so. If you would like to make a charity donation in Liam’s name, we are supporting DRM Diversity Role Models. Liam was aware of this charity and agreed with it’s message and the work it carried out.

"Diversity Role Models actively seeks to prevent homophobic and transphobic bullying in UK schools. We stop bullying before it happens by educating young people about difference, challenging stereotypes and addressing the misuse of language."

If you would like to donate please use the button at the top right of this page. If you would like to learn more about the charity: https://www.diversityrolemodels.org/about-us

Transport

There is plenty of car parking available at both the cemetery and Riverbank for the wake.

If travelling by bus, the Nottingham City Transport no. 9 bus goes from outside the Victoria Centre (bus stop is on Lower Parliament St opposite the Victoria Centre) via Nottingham Train Station and Trent Bridge. It arrives right outside the cemetery. Please do not underestimate how much time you will need to arrive: the bus takes approximately 35 minutes from the Victoria Centre, 25 minutes from Nottingham Train Station or 20 minutes from Trent Bridge.

If you have a spare seat in your car and would be happy to help with transport from the cemetery to the wake please advertise this below and sort amongst yourselves. Otherwise the same bus does go directly from the cemetery to Trent Bridge for the wake.

Two days ago my partner lost one of his friends. Seeing him so torn up brought all those feelings of sadness come rushing back - not that they ever really left. I still see Liam's face in strangers in the street. I still hear his voice and miss him fiercely. I shared with my partner the poem that helped me and continues to help me through the hardest times of Liam's loss; the one written down at his funeral. It makes me cry every time but the sentiment makes it worthwhile. I don't have Facebook, but I wanted to write here in case anyone needed a reminder that he is still in our hearts.

Feel no guilt in laughter, he’d know how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever; he would not want you to.
He’d hope that you could carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared,
The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you, a word someone may say
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour or a day,
That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here,
And fills you with the feeling that he is always near.
For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart
And he will live forever locked safely within your heart.
