Ann Dunne wrote

They told us when we were married that we would be as one
But they never told us what to do when half of one is gone.
What do you do with half a life or half a will to care?
What do you do with half a heart now the other half's not there?
You were the other half of me, a heart linked to my own.
What do I do with half a life, now I'm on my own?
I could not have loved you more and will do until we are one again.
Your beloved wife
Ann

Daddy your strength and courage were an inspiration. We hope that the suffering you went through will help others in the future...

Dear Daddy, here is a short verse in memory of you...

In your home, there is an empty space
A chair in which I’d see your face
If I close my eyes and just think of thee
I can hear your voice, you are still here with me

At weekends of football results we’d speak
We’d agree Arsenal’s prospects were bleak
We chat about our families, kith and kin
While slowly downing yet more sloe gin

On cruises we had explored foreign land
We both agreed it was truly grand
Through seas and ocean we travelled afar
But like compass needles we always found the bar

Without your guidance we are much less
But for your life we were wholly blessed
So just once more around Cheltenham’s track
Here’s to you Dad, slainte it was a great craic
